Drink Wine, Save Salmon!

In the aftermath of this election year, as we work to set aside our differences, become grounded, and give thanks, please join Sanctuary Forest and Whitethorn Winery in supporting the fight to save the Van Arken Watershed! Our annual Drink Wine, Save Salmon wine tasting fundraiser will be held on November 25th and 26th from 1-5 p.m. at Whitethorn Winery, and proceeds will benefit Sanctuary Forest’s work to conserve this amazing landscape in the headwaters of the Mattole River.
The two-day event will feature Whitethorn Winery’s current releases of Pinot Noir from vineyards across the North Coast, delicious organically grown Chardonnay, and a selection of library vintages! A cover charge of $10 dollars includes a full tasting as well as an excellent selection of hors de oeuvres, and live music. Also featured will be a silent raffle and auction (with local food, art, wine and more), and a bar with a selection of wine by the glass. Proceeds (including 10% of wine sales and a $1,000 pledge from Whitethorn Winery) will support Sanctuary Forest’s campaign to save the Van Arken Watershed. The third largest tributary in the Mattole Headwaters, this 1,300 acre property is completely free from development. Threatened by timber harvest, subdivision, and development, Sanctuary Forest has negotiated for a one-time opportunity to forever protect this vital landscape for the benefit of fish, wildlife, and surrounding human communities.
